there's a show tonight
Reubens Accomplice is playing in Tucson tonight at Plush. This is the first 'full band' with John O'Riley on drums Reubens show in a while. Fun.
So... have you noticed the ironlemon has been quite boring lately? I have. That's because I'm boring. I've been working a shitload and trying to do too much stuff. Here's today's schedule:
6:30 am - Reluctantly wake up
7:00 am - I realize that I'm sitting in front of the computer with a cup of coffee. The details of how I got there are unknown.
7:30 am - I'm writing this. I'm suppose to be working.
7:45 am to around 10:29 - Work (I have an unbelievable amount of stuff to do.) I also might shower during this time.
10:30 am - The Reubens Accomplice guys are picking me up to rehearse all day until we go to Tucson and then play and drink and pass out in a hotel at around 2:00 am at the earliest.
This is then followed by waking up at 6:30 am reluctantly again.
As you can see, this leaves little time for updating the ironlemon. I'm already running on the 5 or less hours of sleep a night schedule, so cutting more sleep out is difficult. Perhaps I can bring my computer along today and give you updates from Tucson.
My apologies to Larry and Aquanaut Drinks Coffee fans worldwide for not having the new Aquanaut site done yet. See the above paragraphs for excuses.

the ballad of is un-hiatused and more news
The Ballad Of had a rehearsal last Tuesday, officially marking the end of hiatusness. Brian was there in full effect (he un-quit the band) and Tami even showed up with her dog. You should be looking forward to more shows and recordings from the legendary The Ballad Of.
Next week should be exciting. Two one-year-old birthday parties, two Reubens Accomplice shows and one Chili Cookoff. The first show is in Tucson with Pinback and may be broadcast live over the internet. I'll let you know.
I've been in contact with both Larry and Pete from Aquanaut Drinks Coffee quite a bit lately. The new Aquanaut Web Site should be in effect in a week or so with blisteringly important content.
There have been requests for another Real Diffs Deluxe song that is not up on the website yet, Mr. Hwaa. I will get it up there soon. There is also an upcoming Real Diffs Deluxe contest - more on that soon.

an important resource for traveling in Alaska
Josh just sent this in:
Check out the DOT for Alaska site you can log on to the weather cameras
along the Seward highway to see what it looks like. You can even run a
loop! Go to http://www.dot.state.ak.us/ site and click on the RWISS Camera
Sites link, then click on the Anchorage Homer Cooridor link. Then click on
the cameras. Enjoy Alaska weather from the comfort of your own home.
Click here for a direct link to the camera sites page.
Josh is ironlemon's correspondent from the US Forest Service in Seward, Alaska. He has also provided me with the Draft Environmental Impact Statement on Commercially Guided Helicopter Skiing on the Kenai Peninsula, which I am currently reviewing.

band news and other stuff
A new Reubens Accomplice website is in the works. Check it out. You can listen to the entire new album by using the "Listen to the Bull, the Balloon and the Family" controls at the bottom of the page. "Fuck yes!" says you.
The Ballad Of is on temporary hiatus. Brent is going out of town for 2 weeks. I will let you know when things start kickin' again. You may notice that The Ballad Of link now points to Brent's personal website, missoura.org. The main The Ballad Of site is currently down.
I've made the decision to try to do all of my page design and music file editing and in Linux only. So... I'm currently in the process of trying to get Mandrake Linux 10 setup properly. I should be done soon, so you should be seeing updates soon. I've already somehow got my "pro-audio" Echo Layla soundcard working, which is a first for me in Linux, and makes me believe I can pretty much get anything to work. We'll see.
I'm sure you're holding your breath in anticipation.

I would like to apologize for the lack of updates to ironlemon. I've been doing organizational things to make it easier to get content up. The new Aquanaut Drinks Coffee site is getting close, and I'm preparing material from the legendary Liger. There will soon be a 'links' page as well as an 'other bands' page with lots of other songs.
Thank you for your patience.(0) comments [+/-] show/hide the comments

Whoops. I just had to fix some of the Real Diffs Deluxe songs. It seems I was mixed up: The song that was labeled as "Misguided Intentions" on the second album is really called "Is Belong To". It has been corrected. I found the real "Misguided Intentions" and put it up for your enjoyment.
They're instrumental. How am I supposed to remember the goddamn names? Oh well.
This is pretty much the whole catalog for the Real Diffs Deluxe. There are a couple more songs that might go up, but those are mostly alternative takes or live versions of the same songs. There will be some art and pictures up sooner or later but the music is pretty much all there. Listen to it now!

Weird weather in Tempe
On Thursday afternoon there was a crazy 15 minute hail storm. Here's what it looked like outside my house after that storm:
In case you didn't know, it NEVER snows in the Phoenix metro area, where Tempe is located. In fact, precipitation of any sort is rare. We don't even get more than a few inches of rain a YEAR. I've never seen anything even remotely like this here, and I've been here for quite a while (almost 30 years).
It was all melted about 5 hours later.(0) comments [+/-] show/hide the comments

Real Diffs Deluxe and more news
The rest of the songs from the second Real Diffs Deluxe album are up. Click here and listen to them! Now! I'm still working on some artwork and better descriptions of the albums. There's also a couple more Real Diffs Deluxe recordings on their way.
Chris has recently unearthed a treasure trove of potential ironlemon content. Tons of 8mm videos with some good Pine Wyatt and Aquanaut Drinks Coffee shows, as well as some quite funny home videos featuring: Seth from the Real Diffs; Jim, Rick, and Tom from Jimmy Eat World; the magnificent Tim McGinty; lots of people skateboarding, and me. I'm going to work on trying to get the Pine Wyatt and Aquanaut Drinks Coffee stuff up here. I'm not sure it's a good idea for me to put much else up - very incriminating material. We will see.
The new Reubens Accomplice album is almost out! I'm rather excited.
That's all for now. Time to stare at the wall and digest fried rice.

monday news
The Ballad Of show last night: I locked my keys in the car with all of my musical equipment 10 minutes before we were supposed to play. After declining numerous offers from helpful bystanders to break the windows to gain entry, I called AAA (American Automobile Association), who were amazingly prompt.
It took the AAA representative almost 45 seconds to break into what I thought was a fairly secure vehicle. I was so amazed by his work that I forgot about the show which was starting without me and began to talk to him about his trade. He was in no mood to give away trade secrets at 11:00 pm Sunday night, but his actions spoke louder than any guttural sounds that could have emerged from his magnificent maw.
I have decided that there is no better skill to have than the ability to break into cars. And it's easy! At least it looks easy... I don't want to anger any professional "Car Openers" as I call them. I want them on my side. This may become my new trade soon, and if so I will document my adventures for you here on ironlemon.
Anyway, the show went well. Some people saw it and enjoyed it. It will most likely be the last The Ballad Of show for a while as the bass player Brian has left the band. Or at least gone on hiatus of undetermined length. TheBalladOf.com is currently down, I will find something to do with the link soon.
In other news, "what the fuck" asks Tom.
Also, you may have noticed that there is a new link under the bands category called The Fructose Engine. These are songs by me, all by myself. The songs currently on the site are from 1994 and recorded extremely poorly. They are also stupid songs. Listen at your own risk.
