I'm going to bed early

I'm performing an experiment to determine what happens when you get 8 hours of sleep for two days in a row. I will report my findings tomorrow.

I still have numb face, but my double bass skill is increasing steadily.

If the sleep doesn't work I'll try the whiskey bath.

I've got a case of numb face.

I've managed to loose feeling on the right side of my face somehow today. It's totally numb. Pretty awesome! I even went to the hospital and got a cat scan.

Sorry everybody, it's not terminal.

When the doctor at the hospital suggested I take it easy and get some extra sleep I started screaming and throwing things at him. "THERE JUST ISN'T TIME FOR THAT! DON'T YOU REALIZE WHAT'S GOING ON! SLEEP IS FOR FUCKING WIMPS!" This enraged the doctor who then proceeded to slap me in the face. Luckily he hit the right side and I didn't feel a thing.

gulp

I can't stop listening to No Depression by Uncle Tupelo. It's becoming a problem. I've already heard this album a hundred-thousand times, what's the deal? Why do I still like it? I should be totally sick of it.

hello big drinker

In case you are wondering, right now I am actually officially only in ONE band. That's right folks, this is a first for me since 1993 or so. I'm excited about it. It gives me some time to do some recording. Oh boy. I'll get started as soon as I get my mixing board back from Aaron Went. He is using it to record The Format.

I've been in talks with Tom Bernard about making a cover band that only plays Secret Life Of Painters songs. We would be called "The Well Known Fox" or something of that sort.

By the way, you should check out the Secret Life of Painters. That's John Hofmann from Pine Wyatt, Red Shifter and the Secret Fox's band that I played drums in briefly. They're pretty good and they are actually playing shows now that they have a drummer that isn't out of town all the time.

Reubens Accomplice is currently working out songs for a new album. There's some good ones in the bucket. Hopefully you will get to hear them soon.

r-dog - it's reubens that you're of membership, i hope?

where was that stand-up when we were de-constructing folk?

Yes, ruebens accomplice is the band I'm still in. Unless there's something I don't know about.

No shit on the stand-up. I should of gotten one of these a long time ago.

I want to have mad wild nookie with Kylie-- he is the MAN!

Oh, and I want to have wild mad sex with WhiskeyDick too, that is...if he weren't drunk, passed out and listening to the Sidewinders, that fucker....oh, shut up...

rabid dog attack

Besides learning 'Dinner Bell' by They Might Be Giants on the piano, I have done nothing but play my new bass since last post. I invite you now to imagine a world without love or hate or food or anything except me, playing bass to an audience of myself. It's grand!

I'm hungry, but I don't know whether I'd rather be having a order of bacon or whether I'd rather be having a basket of garlic bread.

I'm thinking about setting up microphones in strategic locations throughout the house and recording everything all the time, all on separate tracks. Then I'll put speakers near every microphone so I can playback important household moments in a spatially realistic fashion. Imagine walking into my house through the front door and hearing the conversation you had with me in the kitchen 3 days ago happening again right then in the kitchen. Confusing!

exit into thin air

Guess what I got? A bass! It's a really big tall one that's of the variety that people commonly refer to as "upright" or "double" basses. Oh boy, it sure is fun. If I had a camera I would take a picture of it so you could see.

Now we have two rehearsal rooms at my house: the rock room and the acoustic room. The acoustic room has the piano, upright bass, a couple acoustic guitars and a little drum set. Once again, I need a camera.

Blogger is getting really really slow, I'm going to have to find a new solution if ironlemon so going live again. I would have been posting much more often recently if it didn't take 5 minutes just to load the blogger posting page.

Have a nice Thursday.

last night

So... I'm on tour right now, in case you were wondering. It's just for a week and it's all in southern California. We've been staying at John's parents house in the Palisades. It's pretty damn nice. Last night we didn't have a show so we rolled to Hollywood to see a show at the Viper Room in John's dad's PT Cruiser. This is very uncharacteristic of our normal tours.

I still have to get up a 6:30 every morning and work, damnit. I'm sleepy. Oh well.

I guess I could tell you about the shows too. Hmmmm. Maybe later.
